TL;DR - This newsletter is changing. It's going to be called better work and it will focus on personal development for high-performers who put themselves first so that they can show up for the people they love. Nothing to do if you're into it, unsubscribe at the bottom of this email if you're not.
On January 1, 2025, all newsletters affiliated* with Hey Ms. Lee LLC were consolidated into one main newsletter called better work. *This includes the newsletters: The Occasional Newsletter, The Motherload and Content Improv. The better work newsletter will focus on personal development for high-performers. Let me be more specific. 😅 Keep reading to help you decide if better work is right for you. If you've been subscribed for a while, it's not a major leap from what I've been doing over the last three years. 🥁 introducing...better workThe better work newsletter is for high-performers who want to invest in their personal growth alongside their career, so that they can show up as their full selves to the people who matter to them the most. When you start your career, you can throw everything into work-work-work and ignoring your own needs. But as you rise to success, you start to feel....off. There's nothing wrong, but things don't seem right either. Your success looks good on the outside, but doesn't feel as good on the inside. We live in the era of mindfulness and healing - I'm all for it. But when your personal work is separate from your professional side, you feel disjointed. You feel imposter syndrome* at work. You show up impatient to the people you love, which is ass-backwards from why you're working so hard in the first place. *Imposter syndrome is not my preferred term, but I use it here since its universally understood. Through the better work newsletter, I'll offer alternative and more empowering terms you can adopt. You have multiple hats, constantly switching them as you move between the spaces of work, family, friends, and self. The lines between identifiers and identity become blurred. You want to slow down and be more present, but you're afraid of getting left behind and becoming obsolete to the AI overlords. Who am I if I'm not a high-performer? If you feel your chest tightening, take a breath. 💡 Good news: there isn't a right answer so you can't go wrong. Figuring out who you are beyond what you do is a simple but not easy question we'll explore together through the better work newsletter. One way we will do that is by teaching you how to become a more confident decision maker. Our anxiety and worst-first thinking stem from a combination of having too many choices, overwhelming pressure to pick the best option, and being told what to think but not how to think. A full detailed description of the better work newsletter can be found here. two things that won't changeI'm still the main and only writer of this newsletter. Everything you read and every reply comes directly from me. (If you don't know who I am, get to know me here). I'll continue to share content related to supporting working mothers and inspiring creative entrepreneurs. However, if you only wanted to hear about those topics then this is a good time to leave. You can unsubscribe at the bottom of this email. ✌🏼 🙌 ready for better work? The first issue of the better work newsletter will drop on Thursday, January 16th. Expect two issues to go out every month.
